Joe Illidge And Shawn Martinbrough Create The Ren – A New 200 Page Graphic Novel From First Second

I understand that, later at San Diego Comic Con, First Second Books will announce a new graphic novel, The Ren.

It is co-written by Joe Illidge, the subject of one of my more controversial interviews after he left DC Comics, and by Shawn Martinbrough, the artist of Robert Kirkman's crime comic Thief Of Thieves. The book is drawn by Grey Williamson.

I'm told that The Ren will "focus on Black musicians and artists against a backdrop of organized crime, because really musicians and artists are the superheroes of modern society and criminals are more interesting villains than politicians."
