Last month, we looked at John Constantine's relationship with cats. It did not go well. With Kyle, a magical Catboi in the future, confirming his continued presence in the world of Batman Beyond, and that Constantine had transferred all of his curses – and magicks – to the Catboi.

The details recalled John Constantine as a teenager looking to get back at his dad for throwing away his stuff.

Killing a cat with a stone. Then he uses magic to condemn his own father. It was a different time, as they say now.

And it seems to work a little better than he thought it would. or worse, depending on your perspective. Cats or fathers, it's never good to hang around John Constantine. Not in the present, not in the future. But today's Batman Beyond: Neo Gothic #4 revealed there might be another Hellblazer reference point for Kyle's situation.

Leveraging his soul to a hundred demons and a thousand angels… back in Dangerous Habits, John Constantine used this trick to escape dying of lung cancer.

He just sold his soul to three versions of the Devil back then. And promised the war that would erupt if he died.

It was a way to avoid death, to avoid Hell, to avoid consequences. And now? Constantine has given all that to Kyle.

Constantine, you utter bastard.
