John McPhee Talks Sheriff Of Baghdad Namechange

images_John McPhee - Sheriff of BaghdadYesterday, we reported how Tom King and Mitch Gerad had to change the name of their upcoming DC Vertigo original graphic novel from Sheriff Of Baghdad to Sheriff Of Babylon, due to a challenge by John McPhee, who uses that name in his business, and who recently trademarked the name for book publishing.

He writes on Instagram,

SOB Response: In response to this article, I'd like to first clarify, I've had trademarks for years as the Sheriff of Baghdad and yes I recently updated my trademarks to support books, magazines, movies etc…Second, Dudes this is the word on the street. There is no secret that I've been running unopposed for quite a few years as the SOB. Lol. A simple google search would have saved some time and heartache. I wanted to share and work with these guys but they turned me down. Lastly, I hope the best for the Sheriff of Babylon dudes.
