Lurker: Circus Sanguis To Expand Wild River's Immortal London Universe
Wild River Comics is a new London-based comic studio born based in Shoreditch, that launched their Immortal London imprint earlier in the year. They are now launching a new Kickstarter campaign to expand that universe with the horror title Lurker: Circus Sanguis. following on from Daughters of Albion and the first Lurker anthology, by the all-female creator team of Beanie Aurora White, Paula Andrade, Tanya Roberts and Jodie Troutman.
"Immortal London really captures what we're trying to create, and does what it says on the tin," explains studio head, Trevor Jayakody. "In bringing our universe under one cohesive umbrella, we hope it encourages fans to immerse themselves deeper in this new world we're building."
Each issue of Lurker is a stand-alone horror tale narrated by the titular character, and written by creator, Beanie Aurora White. This latest instalment introduces readers to the Circus Sanguis, whose dark motivations will "haunt them on these cold winter nights." According to White, "Each and every blood moon Lillaine waits for the Circus Sanguis to arrive. She longs to be part of this performance like no other, to join a cast filled with such strange and uncanny power. But when the circus comes, it brings the most horrific secret… Will she dare to join when she learns the truth?"
Joining White is artist Paula Andrade who describes her work as standing at the point "where philosophy meets pulp." It's a perfect complement for the cerebral horror of Lurker, which calls to mind elements of classic Clive Barker and Stephen King with a playful, modern edge.
Circus Sanguis comes with two covers for backers to choose from – a regular cover by Andrade and a variant cover by Patricia Martin along with a variety of extra rewards and catch-up bundles for those who came in late.
The Lurker Kickstarter campaign launches today, on the 15th of December, although they'd rather you back the project rather than just be a lurker…
