Occupy Marvel? CEO Peter Cuneo To Speak At Executive Conference
UPDATE: It has been pointed out to me that Cuneo has not only left Marvel but has joined Valiant Entertainment. SOmeone should tell the conference who insist he is still CEO of Marvel.
Peter Cuneo, CEO of Marvel Comics, Valiant Entertainment, will be speaking at the Customer Experience Leadership conference of high level company executives.. He will be joined by Howard Behar, former president of Starbucks International, Phil Griffin, President, MSNBC, Joe Taylor, CEO and chairman of Panasonic Corporation of North America, Greg Dardis, assistant vice president, leadership development at AT&T and Rod Thorn, director of communications of Pepsico.
Their theme will be Capturing the Heart of Tomorrow's Customer and will focus on the "changing customer experience and strategies companies can use to can leverage social media and build a customer-focused culture. "
Peter Cuneo, specifically, will conclude the conference with a presentation sharing "the story of Marvel Comics' successful turnaround by customers emotionally."
Are those the ones who battle with Steve Wacker on the CBR message boards over Brand New Day? The ones who call Brian Bendis ever name under the sun for his disassembling work on the Avengers franchise? Or wish to crucify Matt Fraction for his crimes against a satisfying storyline in Fear Itself?
Clearly such people now have a place they can target their wrath. And point out that they have their own very strong emotions about Marvel that Peter Cuneo may not wish to share with fellow executives.
Unless, he does a Jack Donaghy and turns it into a strength. "Look how emotional they are! And no matter what they say… they'll buy every issue we publish!"
Jim McCann will be also be speaking. That's Founder and CEO of 1800 Flowers.com Jim McCann, rather than the ex-Marvel editor.
The conference will run on March 22nd and 23rd at the InterContinental New York Barclay hotel.
