Marvel Editors Confirm "Big X-Men Crossover," More X-Books, and New Class of X-Kids for 2020

Earlier this week, we tallied things up and figured out that by March, there will be at least twelve X-Men titles hitting stores in April, not counting double-shipping and the possibility of one or two more being announced before the April solicits hit.

Dawn of X started with six titles: X-Men, New Mutants, Marauders, Excalibur, X-Force, and Fallen Angels. Deadpool isn't part of the Dawn of X, but I count it as an X-book anyway. Gwenpool Strikes Back was revealed to also be an X-book, but it was a mini-series and it's over. Fallen Angels is ending, but February will introduce two books to take its place: Wolverine and Giant-Size X-Men, along with the four-issue X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover. In March, Cable and Hellions launch. And we know that in April, we'll at least be getting X-Factor by Leah Williams and David Baldeon. That's twelve individual X-Men series shipping in April, and undoubtedly some will double-ship. There's also the possibility we learn what X-Book featuring Storm that Vita Ayala is writing, and/or learn when X-Corps is coming out, announced for artist Carmen Carnero for February launch and then pushed back. Could we get either of those in April too? Or perhaps they're one and the same?

Whatever the case, we should be up to a minimum of five books weekly by May. FEEL THE X-BLOAT!

That might sound like a lot of X-Books, but Marvel isn't done yet. In a recent roundtable interview on Marvel.com, X-Editors Jordan White, Annalise Bissa, and Chris Robinson revealed details on what to expect from the X-Men in 2020:

What X-Men development are you most looking forward to in 2020?

White: Continuing to flesh out this new X-World. We've announced a couple of new books, and we have a few more to announce yet. We've got a big X-Men crossover we're working on that I am pretty excited for. We've actually got some plans for next December that are really fun, if they come together the way we want them to.

Bissa: There are definitely some unannounced books that I'm dying to get out into the world, as well as storylines coming up in…all of the books I'm working on that are 100% wild. It's going to be a good year to be an X-Fan.

Robinson: You are about to meet your new favorite class of X-kids.

That crossover was already hinted at the solicit for Marvel's X-Men FCBD special, the solicit to which told us:

Since White refers to it as an X-Men crossover, we can safely assume that whatever this "game changing event" is, it's separate from Empyre, even if both may take place around the same time. And Bissa's reveal that there are more X-books to be announced isn't a huge shocker, though it will be interesting to see how many titles Marvel believes the line can support at one time, and whether per-title sales are affected by more dilution.

Perhaps the most interesting tidbit came from Robinson, who seems to tease we'll be getting a new generation of X-kids, implying that these will be brand new characters. What will this team look like, and how will it affect the previous class of X-kids who have been teenagers for about two decades now?
