Marvel Reveals Phil Noto Interlocking Variants for 80th Anniversary

Marvel's 80th anniversary, not Phil Noto's.

Ahem…

Marvel Comics has released a look at variant covers by Phil Noto styled after Marvel's "decades" theme in celebration of the publisher's 80th anniversary (jeeze, and they're worried a married Spider-Man makes him look old). The nine covers are interlocking, but not in the usual side-by-side way. Instead, in a move that would have made Steve Ditko proud, the covers lock together in a 9-panel grid to form one full image.

Check out the press release, and the covers, below.

In celebration of Marvel's 80th Anniversary, Marvel is excited to kick off 2019 with a series of special variant covers, designed by acclaimed superstar artist Phil Noto! Highlighting some of Marvel's most beloved super heroes, each cover represents a different decade in Marvel's storied and momentous history – and Marvel is proud to present all 9 covers coming together to create one visually stunning image!
