Mr. Freeze's Wife Nora Reverse Fridged in Detective Comics #1012

Fridging is a term first coined by Gail Simone to describe female comic book characters killed, tortured, or otherwise mistreated for the sole purpose of motivating a male character, named after Green Lantern #54 (1994), in which Green Lantern's girlfriend was killed and literally stuffed in a kitchen appliance. But in Detective Comics #1012, DC Comics will literally reverse the concept when they bring back Mr. Freeze's wife, Nora.

Normally, Nora serves a permanently, literally fridged woman, motivating her husband, Mr. Freeze, who became a supervillain in an accident attempting to cure her of terminal illness and continues to keep her cryogenically frozen in hopes he can one day find a cure. But with Year of the Villain hitting DC's comics this Summer, Freeze is pulled into the plot with the promise of finally curing Nora and bringing her back.

And that, apparently, is exactly what happens in Detective Comics #1012. Nora will literally be removed from the refrigerator and brought back to life. The only question is, will it be to move along her own story, or Mr. Freeze's? Or, for that matter, Batmans?!
