NYCC '15 – Getting Cosplay Photos At SkinTight USA
By Joe Glass
Last night saw the gay men who like the tight spandex world of superheroes partying at SkinTight USA – a regular gay night for superhero fans and fans of spandex and lycra in all its forms – with its special NYCC post-con party night.
I headed over with fellow Bleeding Cool reporter to see if events still were as rambunctious and fun as the last time I visited this particular party.
SkinTight was being hosted by regular organizer Matt Levine at the Shadow Boxers venue, a short skip over from Midtown Comics. And as you can see, people were not shy with some awesome cosplay which they brought over from the con.
The night was perfectly started by a special cocktail they had put on called a Black Superman, which certainly helped to keep proceeds merry and rambunctious, especially with our entertaining drag hostess Erika Kalsh, in a fetching kimono number that would be revealed to be hiding some Mothra realness as she took to the dance floor.
A cosplay competition was included, where the brave and by this point more and more revealing cosplayers strutted their stuff for some awesome prizes, and an incredibly impressive Hawkman cosplayer got the lusted after first prize of a full pass for the comic con, handy as he'd only been able to get a pass for the Thursday of the show himself.
One of the wilder parties, with a good crowd in the small venue, it was clear to see that everyone enjoyed themselves.
One of the other organisers, Guy Social, arrange many other kinds of excursions, events and social nights for gay geeks too, and the fun and enthusiasm seemed to be passing to everyone.
A great way to cap off the first night, if I do say so myself. And with views like this, it was hard for these Bleeding Cool reporters not to get involved too.
SkinTight USA can be found on Facebook, for all future events.
