NYCC 2014 Report: Viz Media To Publish Tokyo Ghoul And So Cute It Hurts!! Manga Series
Adi Tantimedh writes for Bleeding Cool:
At their panel on Thursday, Viz Media announced they had licensed for US publication Gó Ikeyamada So Cute it Hurts!! and Sui Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul manga series.
So Cute It Hurts!! is a shoujo series about a twin brother and sister who switch identities to each go to the other's school. The hero discovers her brother's school is actually a school for delinquents and meets a mysterious boy with an eye-patch.
Tokyo Ghoul is a seinen horror-action series about a college student attacked by a ghoul and gets transplanted with her organs to become a human-ghoul hybrid, plunging him into a horrific underworld of flesh-eating ghouls and the human police force that hunts them. That the manga series has been picked up is no surprise, given the popularity of season one of its anime series this summer. Its popularity amongst anime fans has prompted several US manga publishers to pursue the English language rights.
The manga series of Tokyo Ghoul ended in early December, making bringing it to a total of 14 trade paperbacks, but a sequel series, Tokyo Ghoul: Re has just been announced. It will being this Autumn. While still unconfirmed, season two of the anime series is expected to debut next year, since season one ended on a cliffhanger.
