Peter David to Write Black Widow Movie Prequel

Marvel Comics have regularly run prequel comic books set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, usually written by Will Pilgrim Corona, the man who stands on the wall between the two worlds of movies and comics. The comics sometimes adapt the previous films featuring the characters ahead of the new movie, and sometimes create brand-new stories which are treated as canon by the MCU.

For the upcoming Black Widow movie, there seem to be changes afoot.

And it will be Peter David, of Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man 2099 and Scarlet Spider who will be taking the reins.

Marvel will be publishing a collection of the two prequel issues in April, a well as other classic Black Widow comic books, and will probably run the issues themselves in the months leading up to that. The movie is scheduled for release on the 1st of May.

From spy to Avenger, the enigmatic Black Widow has lived many secret lives. But how do these disparate episodes add up to the life of the heroic Avenger, and what is the thread connects her past to her future? Get ready for the solo film Marvel's Black Widow with this glimpse into the storied history of Natasha Romanoff in this story set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

We pointed out that Marvel was lining up a lot of Black Widow collections for the end of the year and the beginning of 2020. Here's a look at that poster book we mentioned…
