"Reacting To Recent Events…"

"Reacting To Recent Events…"I've learned that DC Comics either is, or is planning to, run violence checks on their comics, in the light of recent acts of violence in the USA. The Denver shootings during the screening of The Dark Knight Rises has raised this concern within the publisher, but the most recent Connecticut school shooting has focused this rather suddenly.

There have been a number of DC books that have emphasised extreme violence of late, the Batbooks culminating in Death Of The Family, but moments from Catwoman, Red Lanterns, Green Lantern Corps, Suicide Squad and Demon Knights also rather stand out.

This policy may be too fresh to affect Death Of The Family, which is expected to continue to feature seriously strong violence and child death among its various plotlines, but I have heard creators talk that DC were previously pushing them to more extremes of violence. I expect that, if nothing else, to be severely curtailed.

DC Comics did not respond to inquiries made earlier today.
