And Finally… Alan Moore And Stewart Lee At The British Library
I couldn't make it to the British Library tonight to see The Universe Of Alan Moore – Alan in conversation with comedian, comic writer and Alan Moore-interviewer Stewart Lee, as part of their Out Of This World events. In which Lee told Alan "what is twitter if not voluntary self surveillance?" I know this because DoktorG tweeted it, amongst others. Here are some highlights in lieu of an actual write up…
James Hunt: My favourite part of Alan Moore's talk was when he explained how much he enjoyed seeing Anonymous in V masks. Apparently it upsets DC.
Alan Moore: "Geese find it very hard to navigate without an atmosphere"
Alan Moore: "Well, there's always going to be a She-Hulk fan in every audience"
Alan Moore: "the stigmata of science fiction"
Alan Moore: "historically, we probably put up with religions because we didn't have science fiction yet".
DoktorG: Science fiction of the early 20th century as a substitute for folklore in America… Interesting idea. Alan Moore.
DoktorG: Alan Moore criticising 'the fetish of rationalism'… I'm starting to feel uncomfortable…
Alan Moore: "[Sharks] haven't evolved in millions of years because they don't need to…I think the same is true of a book."
Alan Moore: "I really hate the idea of choose your own endings." – Alan Moore ;)
StepneyCityFarm: Geese. Alan Moore finally gets round to farm animals ;) Geese flying to the moon, mind. #outofthisworld
Alan Moore: On Augmented Cities – embedding info: "you wouldn't want to start with anything as big as a city, you might break it."
Alan Moore: On God "Well there's always been an element of rivalry in our relationship, the big beard, the voice…"
Stewart Lee: If he wasn't real, how did he invent the taser?
Alan Moore: He just *did* Stewart.
I'll actually be at the Grant Morrison event tomorrow. See you there?
