Ant-Man Shrinks From Screen To Your Toy Shelf
By Brian Goldberg
In addition to a monthly comic title and a spot on the Avengers Now roster, Ant-Man is getting some action figure love to correspond with the July 17, 2015 release date of the Ant-Man film.
On December 26th Disney Parks released a 2,500 piece limited edition Vinylmation Antman figure by artist Thomas Scott in select stores in Anaheim and Orlando. 9/10 figures is the Hank Pym classic costume Ant-Man and 1/10 is the Scott Lang FF era costume. These 3" of plastic Pym Particles sold out fast. The standard release is currently going for about $12 on the secondary market, but the variant is selling for $150+.
Earlier last week, marvellegends.net indicated that there would be a Marvel Legends release by Hasbro. Pictures of the Target DPCI code (087 06 3626) surfaced shortly after. Perhaps which characters will be in the 6" mix and which images of these figures will be officially released at Toy Fair?
Today, mtv.com announced that Diamond Select Toys would be producing a film version figure in to be released with the movie. The figure will feature a 7" version with a corresponding mini version. I'm hoping that an unmasked variant will be also be hitting shelves this summer.
I have a feeling this is only the tip of the iceberg…
