Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 15th June 2014 – Eternally At The Top

This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

Again, we can see how DC Comics continue to grab marketshare with the success of their weekly titles, Batman Eternal again taking the top spot and Futures End placing well. Everything else behaves pretty much as you'd expect as Walking Dead continues to challenge for the top.

Walking Dead is still the king, but again this is skewed by a couple of guys who submit to CGC and bought 10 each to get the BEST ONE. Bombshell covers are doing very very well. Not a big surprise. Very happy DC made them available instead of based on order amounts. No impact from Original Sins tie ins and limited interest in Original Sins #1. The same exact interest as in Infinity Man & the Forever People #1. Not good.

Great week in books. DC's Bombshell covers haven't caught on as much as we had hoped, but are still selling strong. We haven't seen many people trying to get them all, it seems like customers are just picking and choosing which they like depending on the cover image. Original Sins #1 this week confused the hell out of people, so I had to explain what it was all about 500 times, but it still sold pretty well. Honorable mentions go out to Image Comics Manifest Destiny and Real Heroes, both selling like mad this week.

Have had people in looking for some older key books. With rumor of a Gambit movie all over the place right now, we've had people coming in for his first appearance. Same with Apocalypse after the end of the Days of Future Past movie.

Looks like we ordered the bombshell/regular cover ratio pretty much dead on. Which is nice. Legends of the Dark Knight 100 pg Spec sold very well considering the price point. Original Sins, though not the numbers of the main title, did fairly well.

Manifest Destiny kicked the crap out of all the other titles by outselling the #2 book 3/1. The bombshell covers have increased sales for DC Comics across the board and expect huge numbers from Harley Quinn next week.

Justice League and Batman are still the champions of the back-issue market, with key issues of X-Men close on their heels. I expect Guardians of the Galaxy to rebound and take the lead in a couple weeks and hold steady for the rest of the summer.

Great week in sales. Amazing Spiderman 1.2 should have been higher on the top ten but with the odd numbering I ordered lower due to other Marvel titles such as Daredevil 1.50 selling lower than expected. Superman Wonder Woman 9 blew out of here. I upped my orders due to it having the Bombshell variant and was still off. Lots of customers picking up both the regular cover and Bombshell cover. Lots more than I thought would. Batman Eternal is bringing in customers each week which is great. Deadpool still is rock solid. Walking Dead can do no wrong. The Star Wars ongoing from Dark Horse is now over. Sad to see it end.

Original Sin is seeing some life. Original Sins is off to a slow start. Justice League back issues are getting some love thanks to the all the talk of the upcoming Justice League movie. Our Amazing Spiderman back issue selection is starting to look a little bare. Are people starting to figure out that there might not be any Dark Horse Star Wars material to be printed up into trades once Marvel gets the rights for Star Wars? Or is the Star Wars movie "leaks" driving demand?
