Boom! Studios to Publish Joss Whedon's Firefly Comics, Tell History of the Unification War

Dark Horse Comics has been the natural home for Firefly/Serenity comic books since the Joss Whedon TV series and movie first came out. Dark Horse had published much with Fox, including Buffy The Vampire Slayer, with other Joss Whedon comics lined up including Fray and Twist.

But comic book publisher Boom! Studios recently had a major investment in them from Fox, and this looks like one of the dividends. They are telling an untold story, of Mal and Zoe in the Unification War, in a new ongoing series by Greg Pak and Dan McDaid.

Entertainment Weekly has the PR scoop, including word from Joss Whedon himself. Or at least the person who writes his press quotes.

"It's high time we got to see the full story of Mal and Zoe's meeting and mission in the War of Unification — the good and bad that the pressure of war brings out in them, and the unforeseeable consequences."
