DC Relaunch: George Pérez To Write And Draw Superman
Bleeding Cool has run a number of pieces on the policy at DC Comics to offer big name artists the chance to write their own work, in order to keep them working at the company. David Finch, JH Williams III and Tony Daniel are significant examples, and in the DC relaunch we have already seen Francis Manapul and Ethan Van Sciver gain writing jobs.
George Pérez of course has major chops in this field previously. He co-wrote, then fully wrote, the Wonder Woman #1 relaunch in 1986, as well as co-plotting Teen Titans and writing and drawing various Superman titles around the same time. Indeed he left DC for some time after writing duties on Wonder Woman were passed to William Messner Loebs for the marriage issue.
But after that, apart from his creator owned Crimson Plague series, George Pérez hasn't written a great deal.
Well, this all changes in September when, according to good comic book industry sources, Pérez is scheduled to write and draw the new Superman #1…
