Skate 3 Servers Have Come Back Online Promoting the Question – Skate 4?

Word of Skate 4 is abuzz as EA has surprisingly turned the servers back on for Skate 3.

There is something memetic about Skate 4. If you've ever been to EA's Instagram and read the comments, it won't take long to see what I mean. Despite the last entry in the series coming more than 8 years ago, it is clear there is still a desire for more. More than that though, the entire skateboarding genre hasn't been in a great spot of late with no great, large-scale titles for years and years. It does feel about time for someone to step in and make a good skateboarding game again.

Well, on that note, this is an interesting development. Without announcing it, it seems that Skate 3's servers, which were shut down in 2016, have sprung back to life. There is no word on why this is happening but with it coming so close to E3, there certainly are a lot of questions being asked, specifically, if we could be expecting a Skate 4. It certainly is a strange development, especially with no official word, but it would make sense if EA is expecting a renewed interest in the Skate franchise soon.

Of course, this doesn't actually mean a sequel is coming, and it could be any number of things. The other likely explanation would be that the game is just getting backwards compatibility on Xbox One and EA thought it would be nice for players to be able to play together again. However, the proximity to E3 certainly is enough for pause. I hope it comes to pass too. A great skating game would serve so many eager fans.
