Texas Police Investigator Charged With Stealing Golden Age Comics From Someone Charged With Stealing To Buy Golden Age Comics

When someone at a comic convention wants to sell you $140,000 worth of Silver Age and Golden Age comic books, you might want to check their ID.

When their ID is that of Lonnie Blevins, former investigator with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, you might relax and start trying to find the readies.

Except the comics weren't his. They were reportedly collected evidence, held against another accused individual, Anthony Chiofalo who is also charged with stealing from his employer and buying comicsl, such as Detective Comics #27…

A further $38,000 worth of such comics were sold at a comic convention in San Antonio.

Blevins has now resigned from the Bexar County District Attorney's Office, his most recent position, but has announced he is pleading not guilty. He has been charged with the interstate transfer of stolen property.

The problem was raisied when dealers who bought the comics, then checked their provenance with Heritage Auctions.
