Sex Criminals #11 Was Already Banned On iOS – But Grindhouse #7 Is Not
Sex Criminals #11 by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, with its flourescent pink bags, it's 1:35 sketch covers, and its Bryan O'Malley variant was surprising in many ways, with a conclusion that suggests that the comic may be veering towards the way Chew treated its initial lead as something special, and then spread that approach to a wider community. And it was certainly a conclusion that sticks out in the mind.
And while the digital version is without some of the baggy sketchy aspects, it is also harder to find. It too is unavailable on the Image App along with a number of select issue compatriots as a result of Apple's iOS policies regarding sexual graphicness. Which this issue certainly had. But apparently issues #5-#8 are fine.
Intriguingly, I was able (and did) buy a copy digitally on iTunes the night before, around 9pm ET Tuesday. Apple were happy to sell me it in that way – and the day before comic stores would have it in stock.
And the comic can still be read digitally if you order the comic on the web through ComiXology or Image directly.
No sketch or baggy experience though. And Sex Criminals is the comic that does feel as if you should be ripping through seals in order to read it…
And I notice that the bagged-and-banned-in-Canada recent issue of Grindhouse: Drive In, Bleed Out that caused much fuss is amply available on the Dark Horse App…
