The Fate of Cyclops Revealed in Next Week's Extermination Finale

Extermination #4 left us on quite a cliffhanger, made all the worse by the fact that the finale was delayed. But that issue finally hits stores next week, and Marvel has decided to reward long-suffering X-fans for their patience by resolving that cliffhanger right in the preview for next week's issue.

As you may recall (if you can remember all the way back to when Extermination #4 came out), the issue ended with Ahab spearing Cyclops right through the chest, seemingly killing him. But earlier in the issue, we learned that Mimic was willingly helping Kid Cable set things right, even donating wings to replace Angel's. So of course, the obvious question was, was that Cyclops? Or was it Mimic, sacrificing himself to save Cyclops and provide Marvel with a good cliffhanger.

In a word: yes.

Well, it could have been worse. It could have been the real Scott Summers, with Mimic sent back in time to take his place in X-Men history, as Bleeding Cool's own Rich Johnston theorized.

Now the only question is, will the real Cyclops die by the end of this issue? He'd better @#$ing not!

Extermination concludes… finally… next Wednesday.
