Titan Comics Employee Arrested And Convicted After Secretly Filming Women's Bathroom Stalls
This is a story I've heard various versions of over the last two years but only recently did it solidify and was confirmed to me recently by a number of senior Titan Comics sources.
That police had to be called to the publisher in October 2012 after an iPod was discovered by a maintenance repair man, hidden under a cistern in the female staff toilets at Titan Comic.
Titan Comics, based in Southwark, London, are the publishers of Doctor Who, Shaun The Sheep, Tank Girl and more.
The culprit, was Titan Comics' production controller Bob Kelly. He was arrested that year, but claimed he had installed it in order to catch someone who had defecated on the toilet floor.
However police found images and videos on Kelly's office computer of female staff using the toilet.
He was tried back in 2014, changed his plea of Not Guilty to Guilty and admitted six counts of voyeurism. He was given a six month prison sentence, suspended for two years, a one year supervision order and is currently on the sex offenders register, and will be for another five years.
The Evening Standard, who reported on the trial at the time, quoted Detective Constable Sarah Naisbitt, who led the investigation, as saying that Kelly had violated his colleagues in a place where "hey felt they were secure.
"This was a complex investigation that involved detailed examination and evaluation of computer files, where crucial evidence was secured. I would like to thank all witnesses in this investigation; Kelly violated these women in their place of work where they felt they were secure and had no idea that images of such a discreet nature would be taken of them in this way. I hope that they can take some consolation that he admitted the offence and as a result will have to sign on to the sex offenders register for a number of years. This type of intrusion is not acceptable and the Metropolitan Police will support all victims and pursue all suspects."
The Evening Standard did not mention the place he was employed, nor the specific industry. Neither did any other media reports at the time.
Titan Comics dismissed Kelly when he was arrested, but told Titan staff not to make mention of the events, on pain of reprimand themselves.
Obviously, that only partially worked. But another incident to add to the list…
Titan Comics representatives did not respond to inquiries made yesterday.
