Jackson Compton writes,
The wellspring of crowd-sourcing sites has allowed independent comicbook creators to shine through the bleak haze of mainstream comics. Thanks to sites like Kickstater, creators have the exposure and funds needed to bring great projects before the masses. Comicbook creator/writer Jackson Compton and artist Natasha Alterici are doing just that with their new series, Illustrated Girl.
Sandra is a little girl plagued by nightmares where the imagery from the dreams is overlaid on her skin before slowly fading away. On a whim, she traces one of the images with a marker, and with a little concentration, brings the drawing into existence.
Sandra's uncanny ability attracts the attention of a government agency, and in subsequent issues, leaves her frightened and on the run.
The original idea for this project was to fund a trade graphic novel; however, after careful consideration and feedback from the fledgling fan-base, Compton decided to use Kickstarter to fund a single issue at a time. Compton noted, "We listened to our fans. Their feedback set the stage for this project, including the reward tiers. We wanted value for their hard-earned cash and decided that everything offered in this project are true collectibles, all the way from the Kickstarter Only Variant Cover to the limited, numbered Poster Prints."
Illustrated Girl is slated to be an on-going series done in five or six issue story arc increments. How long the series goes depends on the continued interest and funding.
As an incentive, back a Reward Tier of $10 or more and then message "Bleeding Cool Rules!" to get a bonus Poster Print!
