STRIPLING WARRIOR is an exciting and fun new comic book about the world's first Gay Mormon Superhero

This is my second Kickstarter campaign. My first was three years ago – to re-color, re-letter and collect my twelve issue indie comic book series "So Super Duper" into a trade paperback. Thankfully it was successful.

Barely.

The thirty days I was my running my first campaign was an act of sheer hell – with brief and occasional glimpses into heaven. Turns out asking (borderline begging) people to fund your dream project isn't as simple a task as it may sound.

I learned that just because people will read and enjoy your work for free – assuming you post it online – doesn't automatically translate into the forking over of your reader's hard-earned cash. And why should it, really?

There are a lot of things people can spend their money on – like food, rent (the occasional high-class escort? I don't judge). Your comic book is likely not even in the top one hundred thousand list of things to do with their pocketbook.

Gratitude and respect for the monetary donations of your supporters is key. A pledge is like a minor miracle. A moment of beauty as another person – often someone you've never met – has joined with you in the pursuit of your dream. That's a powerful and magical thing. Treat it as such.

Because there will be days of zero pledges. Sometimes weeks even. The clock will tick by and you'll feel the flop sweat form as you gaze crestfallen at how far you have to yet to go to reach your Kickstarter goal.

But you mustn't give up!

You believed in yourself to create a comic book. That's huge! You believed in yourself enough to start a Kickstarter. That's massive! And you need to believe in yourself enough to see the campaign to the end – that your goal is attainable. You can do it! You just gotta work for it.

Getting your full funding takes loads of work, hope, determination, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the word out on your project. (And I do mean whatever it takes.) And of course having some fun and cool rewards helps. A lot. (Like the awesome and sexy paper dolls I'm offering for my current campaign).

Now that I'm deep into my second campaign you'd think I'd be easy, breezy (Cover Girl!). It's not. It's still stressful. I've learned that there is no such thing as running a laidback-watch-the-cash-flow-in campaign. And I'm glad. Because it is all worth it. Difficult things usually are.

And this is why, I now know, Kickstarter is so great. It's the ultimate test. If you can succeed on Kickstarter you can succeed anywhere.

Because like a great rollercoaster your Kickstarter is full of heart-stopping highs and catch-your-breath lows.

If the BleedingCool reader's help STRIPLING WARRIOR reach $8k by the weekend you can get an uncensored paper doll of your choice! Yeah, I said it, uncensored! Woot. Just pledge at any reward amount and message me that you're a BleedingCool reader and it's yours!
