With Marvel's Star Wars #1 Incentives Tied To Sales Of Original Sin #8, Could They Sell Half A Million?

In order to get the best incentives on the sale of Star Wars #1 from Marvel in January, stores must order 200% of their total sales of Original Sin #8 for the standard covers, before they will then be able to order more. Sales estimates for Original Sin #8 are around the 90,000 mark for North American comic book stores. If every store went along with this, that we see Marvel top 200,000 in orders.

Those qualifying stores will be able to order as many copies of the Star Wars #1 Christopher Party Variant cover as they wish and will receive one free copy of the Christopher Party Sketch Variant.

They will be able to order as many copies of the Star Wars #1 Skottie Young Variant as hey want, on top. And of the Star Wars #1 Action Figure Variant. And of the Star Wars #1 Blank Cover Variant.

They will receive 20 lithographs of the Skottie Young Welcome Home image. They will receive 25 Star Wars pins.

They will receive two copies of the free John Cassaday personalised Premiere Variant sent directly to each store.

They will also receive shelf talkers, Twitter and Facebook shout outs and  mass media promotion.

All all retailers, participating in the incentive or not, can order:

Star Wars #1 Movie Variant, one for every 15 standard copies they order.

Star Wars #1 Sara Pichelli Variant,  one for every 20 standard copies they order.

Star Wars #1 John Cassaday Teaser Variant,  one for every 25 standard copies they order.

Star Wars #1 Bob McLeod Variant,  one for every 25 standard copies they order.

Star Wars #1 J Scott Campbell Connecting Variant,  one for every 50 standard copies they order.

Star Wars #1 Alex Ross Variant,  one for every 50 standard copies they order.

Star Wars #1 Joe Quesada Variant,  one for every 100 standard copies they order.

STK661530

Star Wars #1 Alex Ross Sketch Variant,  one for every 200 standard copies they order.

Star Wars #1 Joe Quesada Sketch Variant,  one for every 500 standard copies they order.

Add the likelihood that Marvel might stick Star Wars #1 in an upcoming Loot Crate, and the many retailer exclusive editions being created, and it is quite conceivable that Marvel could reach half a million in sales for this first issue…
