Niantic Will Stop Supporting Pokémon GO on Apple Watch
Those of you who have been enjoying Pokémon GO on your Apple Watch will soon need to find a new device as Niantic will be halting support on the device. The news came down from the developers themselves as the support for the device will end on July 1st, with a short update post explaining why.
Why this change?
Because Adventure Sync allows Trainers the option of tracking their steps, earning Buddy Candy, and hatching Eggs in one mobile device rather than 2 separate devices, we want to focus on building Adventure Sync so that Trainers will no longer have to split their gameplay between 2 devices. How can I continue to track my distance?
Trainers can use Adventure Sync to track their distance by syncing their fitness apps in their phones which does not require devices such as Apple Watches. For more information on how Adventure Sync works, please see our article here.
So basically, Niantic is shrinking things up to make all of that available in one location rather than spreading Pokémon GO across multiple areas. But we're sure someone will come out and say it's because they don't want to keep supporting the Apple Watch and want to move more toward their other devices for you to use. In any case, if you're still using it, you got a month left to play with it.
