SEGA Applies For New Trademark of Super Monkey Ball in Japan

It looks like a new Super Monkey Ball game is in our future at some point as SEGA has filed for a new trademark on the series in Japan. A Twitter user named @piercesword caught onto a filing made by SEGA for a game currently being called Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball, which according to a few different sources the "tabegoro" means something to the effect of "in season". Whether or not it's an actual console game, an app, a board game, or whatever the case may be is still unknown as the language behind it simply states they're applying for an interactive property with all of those being possibilities.

The last time we saw a game made for this franchise was clear back in 2014 when SEGA released a mobile game called Super Monkey Ball Bounce. The game only lasted a year as the company pulled the game for an unknown reason at the time, which some attributed it to not being profitable. If the company has been working on a new game for the franchise, that's big news to a lot of people as SEGA hasn't even hinted at doing anything with it for years, not even re-releasing versions that are super popular with the fans for modern consoles. We're guessing if anything big gets announced in 2019, look for the news at Tokyo Game Show this year.
