Ultimate Games Reveals Pope Simulator Is On The Way
Another game announced this week by Ultimate Games will be controversial for a few as Pope Simulator has been revealed. The game is currently in its early stages of development, and there isn't a ton of information out there about the game beyond the announcement. But the short version, as you may have guessed, is that you'll become The Pope. As in, the actual Pope who leads the Catholic church, who lives in Vatican City, and all the papal infallibility that comes with that title. The game is apparently going to be a simulator that will focus on the political and strategic aspects of the gig, and how best to use your position to help the world in whatever ways you can. Considering the position of the pope within religious circles around the globe, they haven't really delved into the idea of whether or not they will touch on the fact they're not the only faith on the planet, or anything related to actually talking with God. In any case, this game is just insane enough of an idea that we're kinda excited to see what comes of it and all of the controversy that will probably surround it. Enjoy a quote from the company below as well as the announcement trailer.
The works on the game are at a very preliminary stage, and the first trailer has been released for illustrative purposes. However, Pope Simulator is certainly a unique project demonstrating a serious approach to the subject and intended to offer players a lot of freedom and great opportunities to implement their own vision of papal activity in the virtual world" – says Mateusz Zawadzki, CEO of Ultimate Games S.A. "The Pope has no military or economic power behind him, but he has other means of influencing the world, which was evident in the 1980s, for example, when the communist system in Poland collapsed. Our idea assumes the possibility to use, among others, the so-called soft power, and – consequently – influence the fate of the world and interfere in international politics. All this, of course, in accordance with the vision adopted by the player."
