Swedish Authorities Raid the Starbreeze Offices
This morning, Swedish authorities from the Swedish Economic Crime Authority raided the Starbreeze offices, leading to an arrest on suspected insider trading. Authorities sent out a tweet following the raid of the Stockholm offices saying the following:
"The Swedish Economic Crime Authority has carried out a series of house searches regarding suspicion of insider trading at Starbreeze studios. One of the searches was carried out at the offices of Starbreeze studios in Stockholm. One person has been arrested and detained."
Eurogamer has been following the story in-depth with people in the area, but so far very little information has been released to the public. Things have not been going well from the company after several of their games have failed to pay off in sales, most recently with Overkill's The Walking Dead, which has been deemed a commercial flop after poor sales and seeing the game's price got cut in half within a week of being released. If Starbreeze manages to last past Q1 of 2019, it will be a miracle at this point, but all signs from various outlets are pointing to the possibility of the company going the way of Telltale and possibly filing for bankruptcy before the end of the year.
