Netflix has released a dozen new photos from the upcoming Marvel's The Punisher. We still don't know when it will be released, but with this many images coming out and teasers, I expect it will be in the next couple months — probably November. And we will likely get an announcement at the New York Comic Con.
What we do know so far is that we'll see a flashback of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) from his days in the service and fighting in Kandahar. He is still in contact with Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) from Marvel's Daredevil where we first met Frank in Season 2.
New to the series are Frank's hacker buddy from the comics Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and his wife (Jaime Ray Newman), a pair of Homeland Security agents named Sam Stein (Michael Nathanson) and Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah) who are tasked with tracking Castle, Curtis Hoyle (Jason R. Moore), and Lewis Walcott (Daniel Webber) who appear to be from Frank's army unit and of course Billy Russo, AKA Jigsaw (Ben Barnes) the suspected big bad for the series.
There has been a growing rumor started by C.B. Cebulski that another Marvel hero will appear in the series. This could easily mean Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) or any of the other Defenders. But it could also mean a new hero. and the most talked-about possibility is Marc Spector, AKA Moon Knight. Spector has a military background and could be part of Frank's army unit in Kandahar and set up a spinoff series. Moon Knight has recently been added to the Defenders comic series, being written by Brian Michael Bendis.
