Amazon's 'The Last Tycoon' Gets A Trailer And A Release Date
Amazon has a new series on the way, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Last Tycoon. Deadline has revealed that the series will debut on Amazon Prime on July 28th. Amazon also released a trailer that teases the plot of the nine-episode adaptation.
The book, and now the series, are loosely based on the life of Irving Thalberg as he helps create what is essentially modern Hollywood. While not exactly the English class favorite among Fitzgerald books, it is his last work (published posthumously) and a ton of fun to read if you're into classic literature and learning about old-school Hollywood.
Summary: In a world darkened by the Great Depression and the growing international influence of Hitler's Germany, The Last Tycoon illuminates the passions, violence, and towering ambition of 1930's Hollywood.
The Last Tycoon has Billy Ray and Christopher Keyser as showrunners and stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer, Lily Collins, Dominique McElligott, and Enzo Cilenti. Catch it on Amazon Prime this July.
