Ben Schwartz to Voice Sonic in the Sonic the Hedgehog Movie
We have another cast member added to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The cast, which already includes James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Jim Carrey, has added Ben Schwartz to voice Sonic (via Variety).
The project, based on the Sega video game franchise, had been in the works at Sony, but the studio let its film rights lapse and Paramount picked up the project in October. Sega launched the Sonic game in 1991 and has sold more than 360 million copies to date, including both packaged and digital games on consoles, tablets, and mobile.
Jeff Fowler is directing, and it will be a blend of live action and CGI. We don't know anything about what the story will be exactly, but Neal H. Moritz, Tim Miller, and Toby Ascher are producing. It currently has a primetime release date on November 15th, 2019.
After the casting was announced, Schwartz took to twitter to say how excited he is.
