Can The Directors Of Wonder Woman And Doctor Strange Bring An End To The Marvel Vs. DC War?
The rivalry between comic book publishers Marvel and DC is legendary, something we witness each time we write an article criticizing one of the two companies, only to see its fans complain in the comments that we are biased toward the other. Social media is besieged by it, with any negative news about one of the company's superhero movies offset by criticism of the rival cinematic universe. Even the employees of the respective organizations sometimes join in the fun.
But for Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson, the whole thing is some kind of myth. While talking on Twitter about his excitement for Wonder Woman, in theaters this week…
…Derrickson asked the question:
How could Derrickson direct a Marvel movie and have a social media account and never once have witnessed the Marvel vs. DC war? It seems crazy, but he insists it's true.
This doesn't mean you should question everything you thought you knew about life, though. The rivalry is real, and it's even been acknowledged recently by top stars of both companies, when Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns attempted to create a cease fire back in April:
Now you know the truth, Scott Derrickson. So what are you going to do about it?
Could the storied rivalry be coming to an end thanks to Derrickson and Jenkins' mutual admiration? If you want to do your part, Marvel fans, be sure to go see Wonder Woman when it opens this weekend.
