Voltron: Legendary Defender is the reboot of the 80's version of the show Voltron: Defenders of the Universe (Lion Force) whose first season on Netflix was a surprise hit for many new and old fans. It was announced at the panel that the second season of Voltron is set to be released January 20th, 2017 as opposed to the original prediction of late 2016.

After having binge watched the entirety of the first season in a day, needless to say I was excited.

They kicked off the panel with a screening of the first episode of Season two, and right off the bat, I was not disappointed. With the Paladins of Voltron split up after the cliffhanger ending of Season 1, you can expect a lot of character growth this season.  While  the episode they aired focused on the characters Hunk and Lance, with a smidge of Pidge, there will be a lot of struggles for Keith and Shiro, who to put it simply are in deep trouble.  There is a lot in store for the upcoming season, including backstories for villains as well as the main characters, guest voice actors like Weird Al, and even, Mermaids.

After watching the sneak preview, it can definitely be expected that different kinds of planets will be explored as the paladins focus on defeating Zarkon on a larger scale.  We can also expect to see our favorite goofball Lance finally take on more responsibility, along with unlocking new powers that his lion possesses, including, spoilers*, a giant sonic gun that  makes its first appearance in the episode that they showed.

At the panel it was also announced that Voltron will be releasing a toy line with some sweet action figures later this year. These include individual lions, as well as a full voltron figurine that you can take apart and put back together again. They will also be partnering with companies like Han Cholo to release a line of clothing including hats and jewelry.
