Disney World To Add New Broadway-Style Theater To Magic Kingdom
On October 28th of this year, Disney will begin construction on the newest addition to Magic Kingdom: a broadway-style theater! Construction will take place on the backstage parking lot between Main Street USA and Tomorrowland.
The new venue is inspired by the Willis Theater (at least how it looked in the 1920s) in Kansas City. Disney announced the new live theater during this years D23 Expo, but little is known about it. I have a feeling it will be similar to the Hyperion Theater in Disney's California Adventure, which is currently showing the very popular Frozen show.
Disney World does have a few dedicated theaters for live shows, such as the Beauty and the Beast theater in Hollywood Studios, as well as the Frozen singalong stage show. Neither are really Broadway-caliber, though. Currently there is no known opening date, but I would imagine we could see it open sometime next year.
