Hayley Atwell Joins Disney's 'Christopher Robin'
Marvel fans rejoice that Hayley Atwell is returning to the big screen… just not in a Marvel movie. Variety is reporting that Atwell has joined Ewan McGregor in Disney's Christopher Robin. The movie is being directed by World War Z alumni Marc Foster.
"Christopher Robin" follows Disney's ongoing model of taking animated classics from its archives and giving them a live-action spin, centering on Robin (McGregor), the little boy from the "Winnie the Pooh" series, who is now all-grown-up and lost all sense of imagination. Pooh and his friends reenter Robin's life to help him find it once again. Atwell will play Robin's wife.
Atwell has a great relationship with Disney and was recently spotted at the Marvel Studios office which has lead to people speculating that she's returning to the Marvel universe in some capacity. She's been in several Marvel movies, her own TV show for ABC, and played Cinderella's mother in the remake of that movie several years ago.
Christopher Robin is yet another Disney animation classics to get a live action revamp. After Jungle Book nearly broke a billion worldwide last year, and Beauty and the Beast's success as one of the biggest movies of the year, we shouldn't expect this model to change anytime soon.
There is currently no release date for Christopher Robin.
