Jack Black Hops Aboard The Minecraft Film With Jason Momoa

Jack Black has joined the cast of the Minecraft movie along with Jason Momoa. Production is starting soon on the film.

Jack Black will continue his family film dominance at the box office, as he has joined the cast of the Minecraft movie over at Warner Bros. Also part of the cast are Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen. Production is about to begin on the film, made jointly by WB, Vertigo, and Legendary. Jared Hess will be in the director's chair. Here's one I have never seen before, the writer's credits on the script are still being determined. Deadline had the casting news.

Jack Black Is Your Kid's Favorite Actor

Jack Black has made a name for himself starring in many family projects. Just last year, he helped propel The Super Mario Bros. Movie to over $1 billion worldwide. Other franchises he has starred in include the Kung Fu Panda films and TV show, which has a fourth film opening this spring, the Jumanji reboot films, School of Rock, Goosebumps, Nacho Libre, Ice Age, and Shark Tale. It is almost hard to remember that this is the guy who sang this or starred in High Fidelity. The truth is he is one of our most versatile actors at this point and does not get enough credit for it.

As far as Minecraft, I have no idea. I have never played it, I know nothing about it, and I don't know if there is a specific character he should play or if this is good casting. Are there even characters in that game? I never got on that train, and my daughter never really cared. So, this film won't be for my family. But I am willing to bet we will be in the minority on this one. Jack Black makes me want to see it though.
