Why Patton Oswalt Was The Perfect Uncle Ben For 'Marvel's Spider-Man' Animated Series

Patton Oswalt may be known best as a comedian, but he's one that the comic industry claims as our own. He's a nerd like us, from his ad-libbed Star Wars filibuster on Parks & Recreation, his role of the multiple Agent Koenigs on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., his part in the return of Mystery Science Theater 3000, to his voice work including Space Cabbie on Justice League Action and now as Uncle Ben on the new Marvel's Spider-Man series on Disney XD. He's also written comics including working on the JLA, The Goon and Serenity. Yup, definitely one of us.

Marvel released a new video today showing behind the scenes of the recording of Marvel's Spider-Man, and it features Cort Lane and Joe Quesada talking about why Oswalt was perfect to play the part of Uncle Ben. It also includes Oswalt talking about why Uncle Ben is so important to Spider-Man and the Marvel Universe.

Marvel's Spider-Man premiers August 19th on Disney XD.
