Report: Marvel's Spider-Man And Star Wars' Rey To Team Up For Chaos Walking
According to the latest scuttlebutt from The Hollywood Reporter, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is in talks with Lionsgate to star in Chaos Walking, an adaptation of the post-apocalyptic young adult novel series by Patrick Ness. If true, and a deal can be struck, Holland would star alongside Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley as protagonists Todd Hewitt and Viola Eade. The story is basically a reverse Y The Last Man, set in a world where all of the women are dead, except for Ridley's character, of course. Doug Liman will direct the film.
Slightly unclear is whether the film is a standalone adaptation of the entire Chaos Walking trilogy, or the first in a trilogy of movies. The Hollywood Reporter refers to the movie as being "based on the novel," and the original Variety report announcing the book's adaptation in August also referred to Chaos Walking as a novel. However, research shows that Chaos Walking is actually the name of a trilogy of novels, none of which are individually called Chaos Walking. We're going to guess they're making three movies though, since Hollywood loves a good franchise. If the first one is a hit, Lionsgate could probably even manage to split at least one of those books into two films to stretch the franchise out further. If it worked for Hunger Games and Harry Potter, it can work for anyone.
