The Suicide Squad Are Coming To Lego Batman 3
By Patrick Dane
Major companies like to synergise their franchises and usually films are the leading barometer of a company's direction. If a superhero movie for a previously obscure character or group is announced, you can bet that they will slowly be threaded into other products. Take Guardians of the Galaxy for example. They've made cartoon, comic and video game appearances since they were announced in Hall H in 2012. It makes sense too. A big movie comes out, people get interested, want more, buy comics, watch cartoons, become slave to Disney Infinity figures etc.
In that vein, the recent announcement of the A-List Suicide Squad cast has already prompted Warner Brothers Interactive to react. Today they've unveiled that the ragtag set of villains will be coming to Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham in 2015. It's worth noting, the press release calls the group just 'The Squad'. I guess the word Suicide is just a little to un-PG.
The Squad DLC will feature Deathstroke, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Amanda Waller, and El Diablo. In the announcement, Warner Brothers outlined the story a little, saying:
A mysterious figure has infiltrated Belle Reve Penitentiary, and it's up to players to smash their way through the prison … to hunt down this infiltrator before Amanda Waller's — and The Squad's — secrets are uncovered.
This DLC comes alongside a long list of others for Lego Batman 3, including Man of Steel, Nolan's Batverse, Batman Beyond and Arrow packs. If you have the game, you can pick them all up with the Season Pass for $14.99, to really expand your Lego DC universe. If you really just want 'The Squad' when it's released, it will be available for $2.99 as a standalone.
