Next month, fans of the polarizing 2016 film The Accountant will finally have the chance to return to its crime/thriller world. And, of course, you can't have a solid crime-focused movie (and franchise) without a good villain to really raise the stakes. Now, the actor attached to the antagonist role (who's new to playing the bad guy) shares the blunt advice she received before going into her final audition with the director.
During an interview at SXSW, Danielle Pineda divulges, "I'm in my villain stage now of my career, which I didn't think would ever happen. It's a part that I've never gotten to play. Why did [the director] think I was a villain? We had a couple of auditions, and at first, this audition came and went. I taped it, and I was like, 'Damn, I thought I did something pretty good before.' And then my agent called me at 10 o'clock at night and said, 'Hey, Gavin wants you. Just don't f–k it up.' Then I had my next audition, and I was scared to death. I was like, 'Man, if I get this, this is going to be fun.' I'll also say she's a villain, but it's definitely a complex character."
While we don't currently know exactly what this role actually entails for Pineda, her morally ambiguous performance as Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop is enough for us to trust the process.
