The Witcher 3 Has Reached 1 Million Pre-Orders Already

The hunger for the Witcher 3 is pretty insatiable right now. In a lot of ways, that is kind of surprising. The previous games did well, but the franchise has never felt like anything this big.

As if to illustrate that point, CD Projekt Red have come out and divulged that the game has hit 1 million pre-orders already. That is a lot even by some of the biggest game franchises' standards. In a press release, developer co-founder Marcin Iwiński revealed:

We've crossed the one million pre-order milestone and it's all thanks to you guys! We would like to thank all the gamers for their trust and support.

This is the last stretch and we're pushing hard — over the last two weeks, we've increased performance on all platforms and started working full speed on the expansions, Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine.

At this point, it's probably safe to say this will be a huge success for the company. I also don't doubt the game will be 'very good'. It's just a question of how much farther than 'very good' it can go.
