Thor: Love and Thunder – Kevin Feige Teases More Thor Stories
Thor: Love and Thunder came out this weekend, and the box office looks promising. Many people are wondering where the franchise will go next now that the door to explore more people with Thor's powers has been opened. Between the Multiverse, Loki, the idea of Variants, and different people having the same powers, the options are rather limitless. The comics have also given us a bunch of opportunities as well. We have a bunch of different stories from comics with different characters taking on the mantle of Thor. Kevin Feige was asked during the virtual press conference where Thor goes from here and explained that there would be more to come from Thor.
"Well, there are these things called comic books… And that's where all of our stories come from," Feige explained. "And is the question, "Have you told all the great Thor stories from the comics and movies?" The answer is no. There are lots of them. And I've always said our interest in making additional stories is somewhat about continuing the character. It's almost entirely about continuing the experience with the actor and being able to see… I think of all of our cast, not as their individual characters, but as the Marvel players who, within that character, can grow and evolve and change. And if we look at the comics as our guide, there are plenty of other incarnations of Thor that we've yet to see."
So even if this is the last time we see Chris Hemsworth as Thor, there are many different options for the character to show up down the road. We've seen Jane as the Mighty Thor. Is it time for Beta Ray Bill? People have been asking for years, and maybe now is the time.
Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder finds the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey, unlike anything he's ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But Thor's retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor's surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance and stop him before it's too late. Directed by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder opens in U.S. theaters on July 8, 2022.
