Warlords Of Draenor Gets Release Date – The Age Of The Whimsical Panda Is Over

The next expansion of the World of Warcraft series, Warlords of Draenor got its release date today at an event at the Ace Hotel Theater in Los Angeles this morning. The new expansion which will take players back 30-years in the game and focus on Draenor which overlays the area called Outlands which was the center of the Burning Crusades expansion seven years ago.

The new expansion release date is 11.13.14

In the game players will be able to raise their character to level 95, but for returning or new players each purchased pack will come with a level 90 boost that will take a new character or existing character up to level 90 so the player can immediately start on the expansion material.

During the presentation, audience members got to see the first part of a new animated series called Lords of War which focuses on the Warlords focused on in the expansion. They also got to see the opening cinematic and a teaser trailer for the release.

The tone of the game is going to be darker than the last expansion, Mists of Pandaria… Chris Metzen. Senior VP of Story and Franchise Development, came out and said "The age of the whimsical panda is over." Players will start the new material by taking on a "suicide mission" to stop the Iron Horde from invading Azeroth by going in and shutting down the Dark Portal. Players will see the upcoming effects of the expansion when the 6.0 patch is released and areas of the Blasted Lands will be destroyed. There will also be a limited time dungeon or raid (missed which) set in Upper Black Rock Spire that will allow level 90 players to go in and get gear for the new expansion.

Other things the developers focused on were streamlining characters abilities and taking them back to the core of the class. All new 3D character models. And a new style of PVP where players can actually loot other players as well as get special limited time buffs that make them extremely powerful.

New or revamped zones: Frostfire Ridge, Talador, Shadowmoon Valley, Nagrand, Gorgrond, Spires of Arak and Tanaan Jungle.

Dungeons: Bloodmaul Slag Mines, Iron Docks, Auchindoun, Skyreach, Grimrail Depot, The Everbloom, Shadowmoon Burial Grounds and Upper Blackrock Spire.

Raids: Blackrock Foundry and Highmaul.

And of course the Ashran PVP Zone
