WWE Announces First Two Tag Teams for Historic Mixed Match Challenge

WWE has revealed the first two teams that will compete in the upcoming Facebook show, Mixed Match Challenge. Mixed Match Challenge is an interactive tag team tournament that sees teams consisting of one man and one woman from the Raw and SmackDown Live brands teaming up in a series of matches, with certain elements of the show affected by viewer votes. Yesterday, we learned that Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Beth Phoenix will serve as the announce team for the show, and today, WWE has revealed two teams that will be competing.

Firstly, WWE Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss will team up with Braun Strowman for the Raw brand, as decided by Raw General Manager Kurt Angle.

It was originally speculated that Nia Jax would team with Strowman, as the two are some of the most dominant wrestlers on Raw. Jax was displeased with Bliss stealing her partner, whom she'd been campaigning for on social media.

Could this decision mean the end of a legendary friendship? Who gets to keep the pig?

To make matters worse, Jax won't even be able to team with WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore, with whom she's been romantically linked over the past few weeks, because Amore has reportedly been pulled from the show due to illness, which also saw him miss a title match on Raw this week. Things just aren't going Jax's way this week.

Strowman, on the other hand, was happy, a rarity for the normally surly monster:

Meanwhile, on the SmackDown Live side, Daniel Bryan revealed that brand's first team-up: SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair and Bobby Roode!

That team-up came without drama, with both superstars pleased with the pairing:

WWE Mixed Match Challenge premiers on Facebook on January 16th at 10 p.m., immediately after SmackDown Live.
