Life has a funny way of imitating art, as is the case of Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson, who plays the title character, and Hayden Christensen, who's the franchise's Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. The two took summer acting classes together as teenagers and reunited in the 2003 biopic Shattered Glass that starred Christensen before reuniting together on screen again for the 2023 Disney+ series. Ahsoka Tano was created by Dave Filoni in his Star Wars animated series The Clone Wars and originally voiced by Ashley Eckstein. A Welcome Reunion on Ahsoka Between Longtime Friends

"We just had so much fun," Dawson told Entertainment Weekly. "I tell you, the entire crew made an excuse to be on set those days. It just brought tears to all of our eyes. It was wonderful. I love Hayden. He's such a wonderful man. You know, I got to meet him and get to know him a little bit when we were younger, and I saw a lot of that journey he went through when he became a part of the series." Christensen was cast as Anakin in 2002's Attack of the Clones as part of the Star Wars Skywalker Saga, taking over for Jake Lloyd and returning for 2005's Revenge of the Sith. The actor previously returned to the franchise as both characters in the Ewan McGregor-starred Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action series on Disney+.

Dawson admitted "smiling way too hard" during their scenes when Christensen appeared in Ahoska's fourth episode in the World Between Worlds. "Sith Anakin, we never got to see that," she said. "We only got to see him become Darth [Vader]. We got the seeds of that a little bit in the films, but we didn't get to sit with him for very long in that. So it was nice to see him be in the Clone Wars clothing, all of that stuff." Matt Lanter voiced Anakin on the animated shows.

The actress also discussed seeing the character in various forms. "We ended up tweaking that and playing with it a little bit," Dawson said. "That moment with him coming out of the World Between Worlds was so significant, so it didn't make sense to necessarily have like another dialogue scene with him — because how could you really build on that in that way? So we transformed that. We sort of shifted it a little bit so she was watching him as a hologram rather than Force ghost conversation. It also makes that moment in the World Between Worlds more ephemeral, like, What was that? Is she just dreaming? Is she really talking to herself? It's nice to keep that as a question mark."
