Aziz Ansari Responds To Allegations of Misconduct and Assault
Serious accusations of assault and misconduct have been brought forth against Aziz Ansari, (winner of two Golden Globe awards for his Netflix series Master Of None) earlier this week. The allegations were posted via Babe.net by a woman who has identified herself as "Grace", a 23 year old photographer from Brooklyn.
"Grace" claims in her account that Ansari aggressively pushed her to unwillingly perform sex acts after she went back to his apartment after having dinner with him at a restaurant. The claims are listed in her post, but we'll not be repeating them here.
Ansari has since responded through his publicist, Jodi Gottlieb as published on Variety:
In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual."
"The next day, I got a text from her saying that although 'it may have seemed okay,' upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything we did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said. I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue."
There have since been similar accusations brought forth via twitter, notably from Ray Siegel (freelance writer and editor) as posted here:
