Did Triple H Like a Tweet Criticizing WWE's "Pointless Storylines" and Lack of Insurance?
For most of his in-ring career, WWE Executive Vice President Triple H was viewed along the same lines as Hulk Hogan when it comes to ruthless backstage politics and putting himself over above everyone else. But in recent years, with the advent of NXT, which Triple H is in charge, plus Triple H's willingness to put over younger stars in matches (mainly because he has no more need to protect his spot), Haitch has become something of a hero to fans who can't wait for Vince McMahon to give up control of the company and allow the next generation, meaning Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon, to take over.
In recent weeks, it seems like people are finally starting to notice that WWE's ratings have been consistently falling for the past twenty years or so, with lots of clickbait articles on wrestling news sites questioning whether WWE is in a tailspin it can't climb out of. Of course, longtime fans know that the wrestling business is cyclical, but they also know that since WWE purchased is main competition in WCW, the company's storylines have gotten less compelling, its booking more conservative, and the television viewership has fallen consistently in response.
Even though WWE has a major new TV deal starting up this Fall, with Smackdown Live set to air on Fox's broadcast network, websites that were singing WWE's praises just a few weeks ago are declaring its impending doom. In truth, WWE will survive, even if they do fail on Fox, which is a definite possibility as Fox will expect good ratings performance from WWE and WWE has not delivered Network TV level ratings in 20 years, nor have their ratings increased on a year-to-year basis in that time.
To succeed, they'll need to make some creative changes that actually live up to their "live sporting event" appeal, the point of which is that anything can happen at a live sports competition. In WWE, however, episodes of Raw and Smackdown have become mostly predictable, with upsets nad title changes rarely occurring outside of PPVs and the major twists in storylines spotted from miles away. But this has been the case for two decades. It's not anything new.
What's surprising, however, is that Triple H appears to agree. At least, that's what Twitter user @QueenSatta discovered when noticing a very interesting like on Triple H's account…

In case you can't see the embedded tweet, here's the screenshot, which appears to show Triple H liking a tweet very critical of WWE's storylines, as well as their lack of paying insurance for their "independent contractors," I.E. full time wrestlers.
Of course, within ten minutes of Satta's tweet, the like was already gone from Triple H's page. So did he remove it after realizing people could see his likes? Or did he fat-finger the like button by accident like a regular schmoe?
We'll probably never know, but it does add to Haitch's mysterious duality as one of the industry's most cutthroat politickers and perhaps WWE's future savior as well.
