Facebook Watch Adds Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly

Still debating all of the Freudian implications of Buffy's (Sarah Michelle Gellar) "Mr. Pointy"?

Still think Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) would've been better for Angel (David Boreanaz) than Buffy?

Still wondering how long Nathan Fillion can tease a Firefly reunion without one actually happening?

A large chunk of the "Joss Whedon-verse" has made its way to Facebook Watch: with every episode of every season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly available today – and for free. Facebook's deal with 20th Century Fox Television is a non-exclusive deal, as the social media giant looks to broaden its reach and attract older viewers. Gellar herself took to Facebook to officially announce the news, with a Facebook Premiere promo video through her personal page:

Grab Mr. pointy and your Scooby gang: Every episode of @Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Series is now available on Facebook Watch! If you and your friends watch it, does it mean you're all my Watchers now? Whatevs – Get ready to slay all day!https://www.facebook.com/BuffyTheVampireSlayerTheSeries/

For Fidji Simo, Facebook's vice-president of video, the announcement is in line with the social network's drive for "event" content that people build a community around.

"When we started asking people what can trigger conversations, (nostalgic content) came up as something that's really interesting to have on the platform. It's really a way to test this hypothesis."

Simo also sees it as an opportunity to attract a broader viewership to the service: "It's very clear that we're having success with these younger audiences, but we also care about the older ones. We really want to address everyone."
