Facebook Watch Adds Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly

A large chunk of the "Joss Whedon-verse" has made its way to Facebook Watch: with every episode of every season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly available today – and for free. Facebook's deal with 20th Century Fox Television is a non-exclusive deal, as the social media giant looks to broaden its reach and attract older viewers. Gellar herself took to Facebook to officially announce the news, with a Facebook Premiere promo video through her personal page:

For Fidji Simo, Facebook's vice-president of video, the announcement is in line with the social network's drive for "event" content that people build a community around.

"When we started asking people what can trigger conversations, (nostalgic content) came up as something that's really interesting to have on the platform. It's really a way to test this hypothesis."

Simo also sees it as an opportunity to attract a broader viewership to the service: "It's very clear that we're having success with these younger audiences, but we also care about the older ones. We really want to address everyone."
