Impact Wrestling Announces New Slammiversary 2020 Main Event
With last week's announcement that Impact Wrestling had parted ways with their World Champion, Tessa Blanchard, the status of the main event of the upcoming Slammiversary PPV was up in the air. However, on Tuesday's episode of Impact, at the start of the show, Josh Matthews and Madison Rayne laid out the new plan. Instead of the originally planned five-way match for the title, with Blanchard gone, the title vacated, and another planned competitor, Michael Elgin, also released due to #SpeakingOut allegations, Impact will now hold a four-way match featuring three of the originally planned competitors and one mystery opponent.
Ace Austin, Eddie Edwards, and Trey will join a mystery competitor, almost certainly a fired WWE wrestler and perhaps a former Impact World Champion, in a four-way match for the Impact World Championship. On their website, Impact describes the match:
A new World Champion will be crowned when Eddie Edwards, Ace Austin, Trey and a mystery opponent collide in a Four-Way Elimination Match. On a night shrouded in mystery, who will be revealed as the fourth competitor and who will leave Slammiversary with the vacant World Title around their waist?
In addition on Impact, another title match was set when Ken Shamrock made friends with Sami Callahan. The pair will now face The North for the Impact Tag Team Championships at Slammiversary.
After Ken Shamrock and Sami Callihan shockingly fought alongside one another to take out The North, the arch-rivals will team up to challenge for the Tag Team Championships at Slammiversary. Can Shamrock and Callihan coexist for long enough to dethrone the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in IMPACT Wrestling history?
